Josh Pierce

Josh Pierce was raised among the rice fields and dirt roads of northeast Arkansas just outside of Memphis, Tennessee. His work in music is the latest chapter of a long family history. His aunts, uncles, and cousins who carried the torch before were an unwavering influence.
His formal training began at the age of 10 and continued through his college years. Being brought up so close to the home of the blues, his early influences were not far off the mark. Engulfed in the heady sounds of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, BB King, Muddy Waters, and Bonnie Raitt to name a few, his rich baritone voice is a hybrid of both vocal training and soulful instinct.
He finished off his high school years in Northwest Louisiana and it is there that his experiences in the club scene began. He toured the monthly festivals of cajun music and inescapable melding of mardi gras learning the poise and pace of a nightlife performer. With his options limited, he began his work as a solo artist perfecting the art of drawing an audience in with only his story telling and an acoustic guitar.
Moving frequently from town to town allowed him to sample different music scenes and blend accordingly, eventually bringing him to Augusta, Georgia. Once he arrived, he immediately went to work playing anywhere he could find, from the seasoned stages of Atlanta, to the underground of Athens.
His music has taken many forms throughout the last ten years as he mixed the raw unflinching sounds of his roots with the melodic touch of his honest songwriting. The blending of which has never been more apparent than in his most recent work with Bleeding Counterfeit. With the influences garnered by his fellow players, bleeding counterfeit is poised to make an indelible mark wherever they may venture.
And it's not hard to assume that they'll deliver an exciting new chapter in the music history of the southeast.
